Why A Modular Home Could Save You Thousands On Your Next Property Investment

A modular home is one that is built indoors, usually in a factory on a production line, and then transported to a location where they are assembled by a builder on a pre-laid out foundation base. Modular homes are just as good quality as traditional-build homes, and the majority don’t look any different - it is purely the assembly process that is different.
Why opt for a modular home?
The biggest reason is because modular homes tend to be more affordable. This is because a large portion of the structure is mass produced, work is carried out in a controlled environment, and there are less costly interruptions. They tend to be ready faster, as a lot of the construction is not susceptible to outside hold-ups such as bad weather. The rise in demand for these homes means there are a great variety of designs, plus as they are newly built they come with the latest energy efficient technology, such as high quality insulation.
Sounds great - there must be a catch?
Not a catch as such, but there are a few things to be wary of, or at least consider before jumping in. Remember you will need a plot of land to put your home on - or you can opt for a scheme where the land has already been bought and you lease a plot. There’s no guarantee that the other plots will be filled though, and land in prime positions is costly, so you could be looking at a remote location. Also, make sure you know what the deal is in terms of payment. Unlike a regular home, you are likely to have to pay the builder in stages as the build progresses - so you will need to be sure you have the capital for this.
