Stop Overpaying For Your Internet Service With These Smart Provider Tips

Most of us expect fast internet nowadays, though what is available to you will often be dictated by where you live. If you are in a big city in the US, you’ll likely have a range of options. However if you live in a remote or rural area you may be limited in your choice.
Types of internet
The most common is broadband, which replaced dial up as a faster internet service. Most people will access their broadband through cable or DSL connections. If you are in a rural area, you may be limited to dial up, which uses your phone line and means you can’t make a call while it’s connected. If you are in a big city, you may have access to superfast fiber optic – there are several providers operating in the US.
Service Providers
The bigger companies will be available to most: these are Comcast, AT&T, Time Warner Cable, Verizon and CenturyLink. All will provide a range of internet options and price packages. Comcast is the largest cable provider and means you could opt to combine your cable TV and internet in one package, potentially saving money.
Fiber optic
This is the newest technology and unfortunately is not yet available everywhere. Anyone who is a heavy internet user – gaming online and streaming movies and music for example – will benefit from this.
Rural areas
Rural and remote areas may sadly be limited in their options. Dial up is usually available as it can use existing phone line networks. Satellite TV may also be an option, as long as you have the space for a satellite dish.
