Mexico is a country situated between the US and Central America, famous for its beautiful beaches and rich culture. It’s one of the most popular vacation spots for Americans, and with good reason. Miles of pristine beach, diverse landscapes, world-class resorts and attractions - all within a few hour’s flight.
Where to stay in Mexico
Cancun is the liveliest tourist resort with pumping nightlife and a party scene. Cozumel offers outdoor adventure such as diving and snorkeling. The West Coast resorts of Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta have world-class resorts, beautiful beaches and great golf courses. The adventure traveler will want to head to Mazatalan or Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo for culture and history.
When to visit Mexico
With temperatures pretty constant ranging from the mid 80’s to 90’s, it’s a great all-year round destination. Peak season runs from December to April.
Getting there and getting around in Mexico
Getting to Mexico from the States is easy. Cancun International Airport serves Cancun and the Rivera Maya - about 200 flights a day land here from most major US cities. If you are travelling to other parts of Mexico, you will most likely fly into Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta or Ixtapa-Zihuatenejo International airport. Getting around Mexico is pretty easy too, as the local bus services run well and are very affordable. For more privacy, there are taxis, but they do tend to be expensive. You can also hire a car, but beware of scams.
Visa and passport requirements for Mexico
All US citizens must have a valid passport when travelling to and from Mexico.
