How to Book Cheap Holidays Without Breaking the Bank This Year

Recently, it seems our well-earned pounds just can’t seem to stretch far enough and we end up depriving ourselves of the break we need. Getting your hand on a reasonably priced holiday is now entirely achievable in today’s tourism industry. Everyone deserves a break every now and then and here are a few little tips and tricks that could get you out your house for less.

It’s all about timing

Planning ahead is one of the fundamental steps to book a holiday the earlier you book the better the chance of a lower price. Book your holiday outside of peak times, avoid school holidays, travel overnight and fly on a week day, all of these things will see you achieve a lower price on flights alone. There is a chance that you could find a good deal at the last minute with an empty seat, but you may need to very flexible to when and where you are going.

Less expensive alternatives

There are some destinations that can offer the same type of holiday you are looking for but at a fraction of the price. A holiday in Portugal, for example, is very similar to the type of holiday you can get in Spain, but it is one of the cheapest destinations in Western Europe. Using alternative airports that are not as popular is a great way to get great flight rates and is especially if your final destination is not near the airport. There is always the option of indirect flights but make sure you consider how much a shorter flight is worth to you and connections are not too inconvenient.

Group discount

If you are going in a group or for a family trip, make sure you book tickets at one time. Buying in bulk will give you a bigger discount and save you money. Also, thinking about an all inclusive package could save you money on food, drinks, snacks, activities and help you avoid any unexpected fees.

Unnecessary spending

When you travel to the airport there are a few costs you can avoid. Airport parking is extortionate, getting a taxi or asking a friend to take you to the airport is most likely going to be the cheaper option. If you don’t stay nearby, leaving your car with a friend or family member could save you tens or hundreds of pounds. Avoid eating in airports or on planes, food prices after security are significantly higher and you can bring your own food through security as long as the wrapper is in tact. Finally, weigh your luggage to avoid those hefty excess baggage fees.
